MEVS- 1431 Magnetic Speed Sensor For Railway Locomotives
Description
The main application field of this speed sensor is the railway industry. Its performance can completely replace Honeywell 3030s20 and 3030s30 speed sensors. The specification of installation thread is 5 / 8 "or M16. The specification of wire and terminal can be freely selected according to customer's requirements. Pinciple
MEVS speed sensor is basically a permanent magnet with wire wrapped around it. The internal construction of the speed sensor is a magnet, pole piece and coil. A magnetic field (lines of flux) extends from the magnet, through the pole piece and coil out into the air space at the end of the sensor. The return path of the magnetic field is from the air space to the other end of the magnet. As a ferrous toothed ring on the wheel passed the tip of the pole piece, the magnetic field increases and then decreases as the object moves away from the pole piece. The snap or the rapid change in the magnetic field induces an AC voltage signal in the coil. With an ideal target and matching sensor, the induced voltage is in the shape of a sine wave.
The frequency and amplitude of the AC voltage signal are proportional to the speed of the wheel. The amplitude of the wheel speed signal is also directly related to the distance between the wheel speed sensor coil and the toothed ring. The distance is referred to as the air gap. This gap is critical to ensure AC output at lower speeds.
