LPG Hose
LPG hose construction for a given application depends upon the product being transferred and the operational parameters. In particular, refrigerated LPG has a different set of hose system transfer requirements to that of LPG at ambient temperatures.
The design, manufacturing and prototype testing of Oil & Marine LPG hoses for offshore applications have been witnessed, reviewed and approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). One or more standards may apply, depending upon the particular application.
Cryogenic LPG Hoses
Acceptance criteria for -50˚C operation included the following:
--Long term LPG soak test
--Gas permeation and decompression test
--Thermal insulation test
--Thermal cycling test
--Fatigue testing
Construction features of the cryogenic LPG hose construction include:
---End fitting materials for low temperature service
---Reinforced lining applied along the hose bore to reduce the risk of explosive decompression
---"Bleeder cords" to exhaust any permeated gas to the hose ends
Operational considerations include the possible need for integral ballast to keep a submarine hose submerged in the case of gaseous product, and flange insulation kits to provide electrical discontinuity.
